Finance Elite Time: Exploring Innovation in Shenzhen

The Faculty of Finance at City University of Macau organized an enriching industry visit on March 14, 2025, for its Finance Elite Cohort students to Siemens Shenzhen Magnetic Resonance Ltd., a subsidiary of the globally renowned Siemens Healthineers, followed by a visit to the X-institute, a hub for innovation and talent development. The event aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the operational models, innovative technologies, and market strategies of a leading international corporation. Through on-site tours, expert talk, and interactive discussions, the activity sought to broaden students' horizons and enhance their professional knowledge.

The visit was attended by Professor Markus Leibrecht, Course Coordinator of the BAE Finance Elite Cohort Programme, alongside Executive Associate Dean Sun Pei of the Faculty of Health and Wellness, and 24 students from the Finance Elite Cohort. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Siemens Healthineers’ representatives, who provided a comprehensive overview of the company's operations, innovations, and contributions to the global healthcare industry.

The visit commenced with an engaging company tour, where students, guided by Siemens professionals, explored the advanced production lines and gained insights into the applications and advancements in MRI technology. The students have shown interests in advanced equipment and precision-driven production processes, actively raising questions and engaging in in-depth discussions with the staff.

Following the tour, Mr. Ma Tianshi, General Manager of Siemens Shenzhen Magnetic Resonance Ltd., delivered an insightful presentation. He highlighted the company's innovation breakthroughs, achievements in medical technology, and market strategies. The talk covered a wide range of topics, including the innovative applications of MRI technology, global trends in the medical market, and Siemens Healthineers' commitment to sustainable development. Students not only gained valuable technological knowledge but also developed a deeper understanding of the business models that drive success in the healthcare industry.

During the interactive Q&A session, students raised questions on topics such as the challenges faced by multinational corporations, the core values of being an employee in an international enterprise, and so on. Mr. Ma addressed these questions with patience and shared his personal insights, fostering lively and open discussions. The students' active participation and thoughtful inquiries underscored their passion for learning and their eagerness to explore the intersection of finance and technology.

After the visit to Siemens Shenzhen Magnetic Resonance Ltd., the group proceeded to the X-Institute, in which students were given a guided tour to learn about its objectives, which include nurturing new talents, conducting cutting-edge research, and developing advanced research platforms. The institute showcased some of its most advanced research models, highlighting its commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration across various fields.

The tour provided students with a unique opportunity to witness how the X-Institute bridges the gap between research and practical application.
