The “Professional Certificate in Financial Consulting” (Executive Program 2022) was jointly organized by the Faculty of Finance and the International Training and Testing Center of City University of Macau in collaboration with the Macau Institute of Financial Services and the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants (IARFC). The program aimed to improve financial planning skills of Macao’s financial practitioners and raise their professional standards.

All graduates of cohort 2022 who had completed the program successfully received the “Professional Certificate in Financial Consulting.” They are also qualified for the RFC (Registered Financial Consultant) Designation from IARFC, which recognizes members who meet its high standards of education, experience and integrity. The graduates affirmed that the Executive Program not only helped them achieve internationally recognized professional standards but also advanced their career development.

Rector Jun Liu extended his congratulations to the graduates on behalf of CityU and encouraged them to accumulate more industry knowledge, cultivate a macro perspective and enhance their business capabilities, so as to contribute to the development of the financial services industry in Macau and the Greater Bay Area. Since its establishment in 2014, this course has been well-received by students and the industry, and has made continuous efforts to improve the professional ability, quality and skills of financial industry-related talents, and provided a platform and opportunity for training industry elites to learn professional knowledge and contact professional practice cases.

Professor Adrian Cheung, Dean of Faculty of Finance of CityU, shared his own experience and encouraged students to apply what they have learnt. He added that the promulgation of "30 Financial Support Measures for Hengqin " has broadened the development prospects of the financial industry, and he expects students to seize the opportunity to continue learning and improve themselves.

On behalf of the Macau Institute of Financial Services, Director Ho Ian Lei extended congratulations to the graduates and expressed appreciation to IARFC Hong Kong and Macau Centre and CityU. She said that in recent years, the teaching level of the course has been continuously improved to train professionals for the development of Macau's financial industry. The development of the Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen Cooperation Area will also provide a broader space for the development of the students. She hopes the students will continue to enhance their professional skills and make contributions to the economic development of Macau.

Dr Teresa So, Chairman of the IARFC Hong Kong and Macau Centre, expressed that it was a great pleasure to witness the graduates becoming RFC qualified and joining the IARFC family. She noted that with the continuous cooperation and support of the Finance Society, CityU and major financial companies, the program has produced many excellent RFCs. In the future, she hopes the students will continue to enrich their professional knowledge and serve the Macau community and the development of the Greater Bay Area.

Then, Chairman So shared with the graduates a speech titled "Demand Upgrading, Market Transformation". Through data analysis in recent years and comparison with the world's three major Bay areas, she pointed out that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has broad exploration space and development opportunities. The growing demand for asset preservation and appreciation from wealthy families in the Mainland reflects the prospects of life insurance and wealth management in the Greater Bay Area. Lastly, she said that fintech is changing the global economy, business and environment. No matter how the market changes, we should embrace it with enthusiasm, master new skills and knowledge, and embrace new opportunities.
