On the afternoon of December 17, 2020, "The 40th Anniversary of City University of Macau Finance Seminar Series [10]" was held by the Faculty of Finance at Ho Yin Convention Centre. This seminar invited Mr. Huang Kefeng, General Manager of E-Finance Department, Luso International Banking Ltd., as a guest speaker. The theme is “The Impact of Digitalization on Business Models”. Guests attending this seminar includes Dr. Robert Chan, Pro-Rector of City University of Macau, Director Liu Xiaomei of the Finance Division, Dean Adrian Cheung and Associate Dean Khong Yueng Wah of the Faculty of Finance of City University of Macau.
Mr. Huang uses stories and cases to explain the impact of digitalization on the business model. First of all, he, starting from the digital + banking model and focusing on "customers" and "technology", explored some new banking business models. He believes that software development of the financial industry is the perfect example of financial technology, and the banking industry should also be involved to provide ecological services. Secondly, through the digitalized operation model, it is possible to strengthen the infinite loop, which makes the products more popular and provides convenient online marketing channels. Finally, he talks about the digitization of the industrial chain and the development of digitization in the retail industry. Mr. Huang believes that the essence of the digital economy is an industry reconstructed by computer technology, internet technology and data.
The speech ends with the applause of the students. The students ask questions about the digital security of the banking industry and the development of digital finance and the speaker is also enthusiastic to answer their questions. The event ended successfully.
Through this lecture, students learn the way how digitalization has changed the traditional business model under the digital economy, the connection between digital and finance, pipelines, and agriculture. It has made everyone feel that digitalization has been closely related to our food, clothing, housing, and transportation. At the same time, guests are welcome to come again to City U to share knowledge and experience with students.
This seminar is the last of the seminar series held by the Faculty of Finance in 2020. Since the beginning of the semester, the leaders of the faculty have adhered to the ideal of produce-study-research training and have invited guests from outside the school to provide students with splendid financial academic feasts. At the same time, the students show enthusiastic response and strong affirmation. In the coming 2021, the Faculty of Finance will live up to expectations and continue to organize activities with rich content and varied forms for students.
