The delegation from Commerce Statistical Society of China visited the Faculty of Finance at the City University of Macau, where they were warmly received by Dean Adrian Cheung, Associate Dean Eva Khong and PhD Program Coordinator Yonghong Zhou.

 

The guests attending the meeting included Jiang Yi, Secretary-General of the Commerce Statistical Society of China and the Market Research Competition Organizing Committee; An Qing, Director of the Education and Training Department of the Commerce Statistical Society of China; Qu Chao, Dean and Professor of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Experimental Teaching Center at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics; and Sun Jianmin, Director and Professor of the MBA Center at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

 

On the meeting, Dean Adrian Cheung briefly introduced the characteristics of the Faculty of Finance's programs, as well as an overview of its students and teaching staff.Following this, Jiang Yi, Secretary-General of the Commerce Statistical Society of China and the Market Research Competition Organizing Committee, provided a brief introduction. Commerce Statistical Society of China established in 1987, it is a national, academic, and non-profit social organization officially registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The society's platform comprises faculty and students from over 1,000 universities and more than 200 corporate members. The Commerce Statistical Society of China is dedicated to organizing, guiding, and promoting its members to actively engage in academic activities within the fields of applied statistics, data science, economic management, and related disciplines. 

 

The competition has been held for 14 consecutive years, with participation from over 1,000 universities and more than 5,400 teams, involving over 800,000 participants, including universities from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. The purpose of the competition is to cultivate college students' research and survey skills, promote the development of statistics as a discipline, and encourage cultural exchange and competition among young students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong, and Macao.

 

The competition spans seven months and includes multiple levels of competition, such as school-level competitions, enterprise-sponsored competitions, provincial competitions, and national competitions. These, combined with participants from various disciplines, enhance students' comprehensive skills from multiple perspectives and at multiple levels. This competition is a highly influential national event that attracts attention from various industries.The Market Research Competition also helps improve teachers' mentoring abilities, enhance practical teaching skills, deepen communication between teachers and students, and foster innovative talent.

 

During this visit, the Commerce Statistical Society of China hopes to initiate cooperation between both parties to actively promote large-scale national student competitions. This would allow more faculty and students to participate, helping students develop teamwork, presentation, communication, and comprehensive information technology skills. It also provides opportunities for students to compete and exchange with talented peers from different regions, broadening their horizons while improving teachers' guidance and practical teaching abilities.
