The City University of Macau hosted the Leadership in Finance Seminar“Green Finance Leadership Development: New Quality Growth” on September 3, 2024. The seminar featured Professor Zhongming Wang, Senior Professor of Liberal Arts at Zhejiang University, Special Expert of Zhejiang Province, Professor of the School of Management at Zhejiang University, as guest speaker. The seminar was attended by José Paulo Afonso Esperança, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business; Eva Khong, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Finance; Tingyue Kuang, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Business, along with students from both the Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Finance.

In this seminar, Professor Wang Chongming delved into the topic of financial leadership under comprehensive green transformation. This included an analysis of the characteristics of green leadership and an interpretation of new roles and capabilities using the example of the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO). Professor Wang pointed out that the green financial system refers to a series of financial products and services, such as bank loans, private equity investments, issuing bonds and stocks, insurance, and carbon finance, which channel social capital into green industry development through various policies and institutional arrangements. Professor Wang emphasized the importance of combining innovation in green finance with sustainable development theories and proposed new methods and strategies to help businesses and financial institutions achieve sustainability goals more effectively, thereby supporting the green and efficient transformation of the economy.

The atmosphere at the seminar was lively, with students actively engaging in discussions and posing questions to Professor Wang. They explored in-depth how to develop leadership in green finance. The seminar provided valuable academic guidance and inspiration for both faculty and students, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and academic exchange. Looking ahead, the City University of Macau will continue to strengthen its partnerships with distinguished scholars, driving the development of green finance and bringing new momentum to the financial sector.

Professor Zhongming Wang is Senior Professor of Liberal Arts at Zhejiang University, Special Expert of Zhejiang Province, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Management at Zhejiang University, Director of the Global Entrepreneurship Research Center Zhejiang University, Dean of the Miller Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (in cooperation with Stanford), Chairman of the Silk Road Entrepreneurship Education Network (Belt and Road), and Director of the Research and Development Center for Women's Entrepreneurship at Zhejiang University-Oxford University. President of Zhejiang Behavioral Science Society, Director of the Expert Committee of Zhejiang Professional Managers Association, Honorary Director of the Industrial Psychology Division of the Chinese Psychological Society.
