With the support of the Headquarters of Guangfa Bank, “China Life-Guangfa Joint Lecture – Study Tour to Nanhai Financial Center and VTM of Guangfa Bank” co-organized by China Life Insurance (Overseas) Co., Ltd. Macau Branch, China Guangfa Bank (Macau Branch) and the Faculty of Finance of the City University of Macau was held on 24 October 2018.

  The 33- strong delegation comprised Prof Michael T. Chng and Associate Professor Eva Khong, respectively Executive Dean and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Finance, and postgraduate and undergraduate students of the Faculty.  It was accompanied by Liu Xia from the Human Resources Department of the Headquarters of Guangfa Bank, He Dongbin, Gao Jiawei and Gan Zhenquan from the Banking Department of the Bank’s Macao branch.

  The first stop of the tour was Nanhai Financial Center of Guangfa Bank.  It is located at the Guangdong Financial High-Tech Zone, Nanhai District, Foshan, occupying 158 hectares and the total investment amounted to over $3 billion.  There were information center, operation center, training center, call center, credit card center and security operation center etc., enabling Guangfa Bank to provide collective back office support, enhance its overall business capability and centralize risk control.

  Teachers and students of the Faculty of Finance of the City University of Macau then visited the VTM at the Haiyue branch of Guangfa Bank (Guangzhou Branch).  Liu Shuzhen, Head of the Operation Department of the branch told visitors about the VTM in detail.  The VTM at Guangfa Bank had achieved information transfer and interconnection among intelligent equipment, counter business system and mobile terminals and could provide customers with one-stop services ranging from enquiries, user guide, business processing to product promotion etc.  Teachers and students of the City University of Macau were amazed at the new technology employed by Guangfa Bank.  Many students also experiment smart account opening and online settlement services.

  The Guangfa tour was an extension of the seminar “The Opportunities and Challenges for Macao’s Insurance Industry” held on 3 October 2018 and received positive response from the teachers and students of the City University of Macau.

  Looking ahead, led by the China Life Insurance Group and Guangfa Headquarters, China Guangfa Bank (Macau Branch) will continue to perform the role as a platform for internal and external contact and interaction, promote financial exchange within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Area and nurture talent for the Greater Bay Area.
