The Faculty of Finance held the 40th Anniversary of City University of Macau：Finance Seminar Series【2】: Insurance and Banking Elite Dialogue on October 19, 2020. Mr. Lai Yunchao, China Life Insurance (Overseas) Co., Ltd. Macao Branch Sales Director, Mr. Ron Tsang Personal Agent Dept, Mr. Cao Jiarong, Branch Manager, Mr. Jin Zhaohui, Business Manager as well as Mr. He Dong Bin, General Manager of Guangfa Bank Macau Branch Corporate Banking Department, and Ms. Lin Baozu, Deputy General Manager, were invited to discuss the current status and future development of financial, banking, insurance, etc. with freshmen and sophomores of Finance Elite Cohort. The students seized the opportunity and actively asked questions to the guests. The scene was full of applause and discussion.
Mr. Lai Yunchao, Director of China Life Insurance (Overseas) Co., Ltd. Macao Branch, shared various difficulties he encountered in college and career development, such as those issues encountered in the early days of becoming a university student and the challenges he faced in studies. At the same time, how to be a good insurance agent was discussed in detail. In addition to getting professional certificates of insurance, wealth management, financial planning consultants and other certificates, students were encouraged to work with financial institutions as interns for understanding practical operations, which were conducive to working in the financial industry in the future.
Mr. Zeng Junming, Manager of Macao Branch of China Life Insurance (Overseas) Co., Ltd introduced and explained the differences and characteristics of China's mainland, Hong Kong and Macau's financial industry, and discussed methods and importance of financial management taking the daily living expenses of the classmates as an example, letting classmates have a deep understanding of the development of the financial industry.
Mr. Jin Tihui, Manager China Life Insurance (Overseas) Co., Ltd. Macau Branch shared his own work experience. he recommended that students should master financial knowledge such as economies, laws, etc., and they should also participate in internship program(s) in winter or summer vacations.
Mr. He Dong Bin, General Manager Corporate Banking Dept of China Guangfa Bank Co., Ltd. Macau Branch pointed out that students must be good at building up their own knowledge reserves and absorbing information of diverse sources, such as current events, sports, entertainment, finance, etc. as well as developing various hobbies so as to socialize with different people. In addition to theoretical knowledge, students can also increase knowledge through different information in society. At the same time, in the process of studying, students were encouraged to face difficulties and to cultivate their own ability to deal with and solve problems. Students were welcome to practice in China Life Insurance, China Guangfa bank and other institutions in the future.
In the two-hour dialogue, all the guests patiently answered students’ questions, letting the students know more clearly about financial, banks, insurance and other industries in Macao and global development, which helped students to know their future development. The Faculty of Finance will continue to hold relevant activities in the future, inviting professionals in the financial industry to interact and communicate with Finance Elite Cohort students.
