Four scholars from the City University of Macau (CityU) were ranked in the latest World’s Top 2% Scientists List published by the Stanford University research team based on citation indicators. Prof Zhou Wanlei, Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science; Prof Mu Yi, Distinguished professor of the Faculty of Data Science; Prof Adrian Cheung Wai Kong, Dean of the Faculty of Finance, and Prof Ivan Lai Ka Wai, PhD supervisor of the Faculty of Finance, were among the eminent science figures on the list.
Prof John P.A. Ioannidis from Stanford University and his research team prepared the annual list based on the world’s largest citation database, Scopus. The World’s Top 2% Scientists List encompassed two scales to rank top scientists from 22 fields and 176 sub-fields based on their career-long citation impact (1960-2021) and single-year citation impact in 2021.
Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei was listed in the field of artificial intelligence and image processing under the scales of career-long impact and single-year impact. His research scope covers internet security and privacy protection, computer networks, and web-based teaching. Prof Zhou has prepared and published 450+ papers, which have been cited over 6,000 times between 1996 and 2021 and nearly 980 times in the past full year.
Distinguished professor Mu Yi also entered the two scales. His research scope covers cryptography, cybersecurity, data security and privacy, and quantum information. Prof Mu has prepared and published over 530 papers cited over 6,800 times between 1996 and 2021 and nearly 800 times in the past year circle.
Prof Adrian Cheung Wai Kong was ranked in the finance field under the single-year impact scale. His research focuses on evidence-based finance. He has co-authored over 30 papers which was cited 180 times in 2021.
Prof Ivan Lai Ka Wai was listed in the field of sport, leisure and tourism under the single-year impact scale. His research scope covers smart tourism. Prof Lai has co-authored over 110 papers cited some 390 times in 2021.
