The 10th Camphor Economics English Forum was held on December 13-14, 2024 at Anhui University. The theme of the forum was “New Quality Productivity and High Quality Development”, and 20 papers were selected from more than 70 submissions from renowned universities.
Ms. Zhixin Mo, a fourth year student of Bachelor of Applied Economics from the Faculty of Finance of City University of Macau, presented her working paper “Air Quality, Outdoor Gatherings, and Work Performance: Evidence from Foreign Workers in Hong Kong”, which was co-authored with Prof. Yonghong Zhou of the Faculty of Finance and Mr. Jichao Wang, a student of the Master of Science in Finance. The paper examines the relationship between Sunday air quality, outdoor gatherings of foreign domestic helpers (FDHs) and work performance in the context of Hong Kong's unique foreign labor phenomenon. It is found that air quality leads FDHs to value the indoor work experience more, which in turn improves their work performance. Prof. Shihe Fu from Wuhan University, Associate Prof. Jingbo Cui from Duke Kunshan University, and Prof. Ruipeng Tan from Hefei University of Technology provided comments.
The Camphor Economics English Forum provides a platform for scholars of economics to display their research results, promotes academic exchanges and cooperation in economics, and plays an important role in leading the new directions of economics research and promoting academic exchanges and cooperation.
