On 28th August 2025, the Faculty of Finance of City University of Macau held a finance seminar at Golden Dragon Campus, Macau. The seminar featured Mr. Zhang Ning Ethan, Band of China, Head of Investment Banking Division Global Advanced Corporate Finance Center, as the keynote speaker. His presentation was titled "Cross-Border Finance: Case Studies and Practical Insights." Guests attending the seminar included Dean Adrian Cheung and Associate Dean Eva Khong of the Faculty of Finance, City University of Macau.
At the beginning of the seminar, Mr. Zhang introduced the history of Bank of China (Macao) and the foundations of cross-border finance, highlighting the bank's leading market position and its important banking functions in Macao. As a key overseas branch of Bank of China, the outstanding performance of Bank of China (Macao) in cross-border financial services has also contributed significantly to the development of Macao's financial industry.
Mr. Zhang 's seminar was divided into three main sections: Bank of China's corporate finance business, the development of cross-border finance, and cross-border finance case studies. Drawing on his extensive financial industry experience and profound theoretical knowledge, Mr. Zhang showed to the City University of Macau faculty and students, the operating mechanisms of financial markets and the characteristics of cross-border finance. Starting from core financial concepts, he expounded on the diversity of financial services. Mr. Zhang focused on the difficulties of cross-border finance, including cross-border regulatory policies, exchange rates, laws, taxes, language, time differences, the vast scope of industries, large-scale projects, and country-specific risks. Through the three case studies of cross-border financial projects, he provided students with a deep understanding of the scope of cross-border finance, its practices and achievements, and the importance of integrating theory with practical application.
Mr. Zhang actively engaged with the students, who enthusiastically asked questions and expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to interact with the financial industry and expect for more industry experience. Faculty of Finance of City University of Macau once again expressed its gratitude to Mr. Zhang for his valuable insights and guidance, which provided the students with a valuable lesson.
