“Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)” Seminar Held by the Faculty of Finance, City University of Macau.

  The Faculty of Finance of the City University of Macau held a seminar on “Engaging the Next Generation of Investment Professionals” at HG02, Ho Yin Convention Center on 20 March 2019.  Associate Dean Eva Khong of the Faculty of Finance, City University of Macau,   Mr Thomas Ma, Director, Regulatory and Program Recognition (Asia Pacific), CFA Institute, Mr Tony Watson and Mr Franki K.F. Chung, respectively President and Vice President of The Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts Limited (HKSFA) attended the event.

                                                                      

  In the welcoming remarks, Executive Vice Dean Khong said she was honored that the guests have accepted the invitation to speak at the seminar and give our students an opportunity to find out more about joining the HKSFA and acquiring the professional qualifications and knowledge required for the financial industry.  CFA is the abbreviation of Chartered Financial Analyst.   Since it was launched in 1947, CFA qualification has been recognized in over 100 countries around the world in 70 years.   CFA serves the financial industry worldwide and has been striving to set up and advocate the highest code of conduct for the industry.   It is an accreditation system of professional qualifications for the securities investment and management sector and is recognized by employers in more than 170 countries worldwide.  It is an ideal certificate the opens the gateway to an annual salary of $1 million.  The Faculty of Finance of the City University of Macau places emphasis on the cultivation of financial talent and encourages students to pursue professional development in order to provide better financial education for the Greater Bay Area and enable students to gain wide recognition in the financial area and industry.  Associate Dean Khong pointed out that the event organized by the Faculty of Finance benefited the students.  She then presented souvenirs as a token of appreciation to the three guest speakers.

   

                             

  The speakers of the seminar included Mr Thomas Ma, Director, Regulatory and Program Recognition (Asia Pacific), CFA Institute, Mr  Tony Watson and Mr Franki K.F. Chung, respectively President and Vice President of HKSFA.  They talked about the “CFA Program”, “The History of HKSFA” and “The Activities and Future Development of HKSFA” and interacted with the students.  The speakers inspired students’ thinking by combining social reality with data analysis and case sharing, enabling the students to understand the local and overseas financial development trends.  The students also learned about the related qualifications of an analyst and future development trends.
