Publication Requirements:

2026 cohort and thereafter: One paper published in a core journal relevant to their thesis, (SSCI, CSSCI, TSSCI, or SCI), or one working paper presented at an academic conference or salon recognized by Faculty of Finance. (List download)

 

2020 - 2025 cohort: One paper in a core journal (SSCI, CSSCI, TSSCI, or SCI) related to their thesis, or two papers in general academic journals; 2019 cohort and prior: One paper in a general academic journal related to their thesis.

 

The above requirements are explained as follows:

  1. CSSCI refers to the CSSCI core version.
  2. "Related to their thesis" refers to journals in economics, finance, or journals in other fields that have a clear connection to the graduation thesis.
  3. Must not be published in the university's journal of early warning (negative list).
  4. Chinese journals require formal publication; English journals require an acceptance notice.
  5. Regulations regarding papers in general academic journals are as follows:

    a) English journals must have an ISSN number; Chinese journals must have a CN number.

    b) The journal must implement a blind peer-review system.

  1. Authorship requirements: Must be listed as “Faculty of Finance, City University of Macau” (in Chinese or English), and satisfy one of the following conditions:

a) Sole author;

b) First author;

        c) Second author;

        d) Third author and corresponding author.

   

When students submit their thesis materials, the Faculty may request relevant evidence to prove compliance with the above regulations. Cases where it is difficult to judge whether a paper meets the requirements shall be adjudicated by the Faculty Academic Committee.
