Faculty of Finance, CityU, Holds "Writing Competition on Finance with Characteristics"

  On May 21, 2019, "Writing Competition on Finance with Characteristics" was held at Ho Yin Convention Center, which was sponsored by Macao Foundation and organized by Faculty of Finance, CityU. The theme was "Insight into Finance with Characteristics". Pro-Rector IP Kuai Peng and Ms. Khong Yueng Wah, Associate Dean of Faculty of Finance, and teachers and students attended the competition.

  Pro-Rector IP Kuai Peng held that, the financial industry, as one of the four pillar industries of Macao's economy, is flourishing gradually under the support of policies of the Central Government and Macao SAR Government. In the meantime, promoting the development of finance with characteristics is conducive to drive "the important direction of moderate diversification of economy", "support the significant development path of construction of the Greater Bay Area", and "strengthen Macao's role as a platform for China and Portugal". And it can effectively promote moderate diversification of Macao's industries and help young entrepreneurs to start up business.

                                             

  The participants of this competition fell into six groups, all of whom were doctoral students majoring in Finance of CityU enrolled in 2018. After fierce competition and strict review by judges, the paper of Taam Syuwan, Can Zeon, and Joeng Waigin, entitled Exploration on the Cooperation Platform of Financial Services of Bulk Commodity for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Portuguese-speaking Countries, won the first prize. The paper of Can Gwokhung, Dou Cingjyu, Joeng Gwan, and Ze Janhing, entitled Study on the Establishment of Green Finance Ecosystem of Macao, won the second prize. And the paper of Ng Siulam, Lou Gaadik, and Hon Syut, entitled Exploration on Cross-border RMB Business of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—Based on Portuguese-speaking Countries, won the third prize.

  Faculty of Finance has been committed to cultivating talents specializing in finance with characteristics to respond to the economic development of Macao and the Greater Bay Area, facilitate Macao to integrate into national development strategies, and cultivate the backbone of society. The participants demonstrated their scientific research capacity and academic level in this competition and were highly praised by judges.

  Judges included: Ms. Loeng Manngaan, the Director of Research and Statistics of Monetary Authority of Macao, Mr. Tong Keisi, the Dean of Hengqin Financial Institute, Ms. Can Fan, the Director of Personal Banking and Channel Management Department, Macao Branch, Bank of China, Mr. Paang Gaawai, the Sales Director of Macao Branch, CLIO, and Mr. Ho Dungban, the General Manager of Corporate Banking Department, Macao Branch, CGB.
