The National Finals of the 16th “Zhengda Cup” National College Student Market Survey and Analysis Competition, hosted by Commerce Statistical Society of China, recently drew to a successful close. The competing teams from the City University of Macau delivered a stellar performance, clinching two National First Prizes and two Second Prizes in the Undergraduate Group, alongside four National Second Prizes in the Postgraduate Group.

Among them, the cross-faculty collaborative teams involving undergraduate students from the Faculty of Finance performed with particular distinction. In the undergraduate category, the team consisting of Siyi Long, Yifan Liu, Ruyue Gong, Yuqi Hu, and Ziyang Shen won the First Prize for their project, "Health Link in the Greater Bay Area, Enjoying Wellness in Macao: A Study on Macao Residents' Intentions and Behavioral Mechanisms Regarding Cross-Border Medical Care." This achievement was made under the meticulous guidance of Associate Professor Yihui Tian from the Faculty of Business, alongside Associate Professor Deqin Lin and Assistant Professor Nikolai Sheung-Chi Chow from the Faculty of Finance.

Rooted in Macao's local context, this project focused on cross-border medical care, a pressing societal need. From literature review and depth interviews to questionnaire design, data collection, and statistical modeling, every step underwent rigorous refinement. The team’s logical coherence and academic rigor ultimately earned high acclaim from the judges during the oral defense.

Concurrently, another team composed of Jiaxin Guo, Junlin Wu, Qicong Pang, Donghong He, and Xiangjie Ren also clinched the First Prize with their project, "A Famed City: Shifting the Focus onto the ‘IP’ Trend," under the patient guidance of Associate Professor Yihui Tian from the Faculty of Business.

Additionally, two other projects both secured National Second Prizes in the undergraduate category under the guidance of Assistant Professor Yan Wang from the Faculty of Finance. They are "‘Group-Buying’ in Macao: A Study on the Usage Behavior, Satisfaction, and Influencing Factors of Macao Group-Buying Vouchers" by Yiting Wang, Jiaying Zheng, and Chenli Li, and "Smart Tide Surging, Inclusivity Accompanying" by Letian Chen, Minhang Xue, Siying Chen, and Mengze Wu.

The national finals featured a combination of live project presentations and oral defenses. In the undergraduate category, 304 teams from across the country were divided into 15 groups for their presentations, while 175 teams competed fiercely in the postgraduate category. Following intense competition, the First and Second Prizes were awarded in both divisions.

The impressive haul of high-level national accolades fully validates the university's solid practical teaching outcomes and excellent academic atmosphere. Looking ahead, CityU Macau will continue to integrate premium resources from both inside and outside the university, empowering more students to anchor themselves in Macao and serve society. By nurturing their innovative thinking and practical capabilities through real-world challenges, the university aims to contribute new-quality talent to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
