Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College Delegation Visits City University of Macau Faculty of Finance for Academic Exchange

On 30 June 2026, a student delegation from Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College visited the Faculty of Finance at the City University of Macau for an academic exchange programme. The visit aimed to enhance communication and strengthen cooperation between the two institutions in areas such as financial talent development, academic research, and industry–academia collaboration. Distinguished guests attending the event included Ms. Joana Leong, Senior Director of the Strategic Customer Management Department at Well Link Bank; Lecturer Jiesi Chen and Peng Sun from Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College; Professor Adrian Cheung, Dean of the Faculty of Finance; Associate Professor Eva Khong, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Finance; Associate Professor Ting Yang, Programme Coordinator of the Master's Degree Programmes; and Mr. Chun Zhou from the Admissions Office of CityU of Macau.

The programme commenced at 3:00 p.m. with an introduction of the attending guests and representatives. Dean Adrian Cheung presented commemorative gifts to the visiting delegation and representatives from Well Link Bank, followed by a group photograph to mark this meaningful occasion of academic and cultural exchange.

 

 

In his welcoming remarks, Dean Cheung expressed his sincere appreciation for the delegation's visit. He reviewed the Faculty's development and highlighted its achievements in teaching and research. He also praised the outstanding achievements of this year's graduates, many of whom have been admitted to prestigious overseas universities, underscoring the Faculty's success in nurturing globally competitive talent. Dean Cheung expressed hope that the exchange would deepen students'understanding of and interest in the Faculty's academic programmes. 

 

 

Associate Dean Eva Khong then introduced the Faculty's distinctive model of industry–academia–research integration. She highlighted flagship initiatives such as corporate visits, expert lectures, academic seminars, economic workshops, summer internship programmes, and professional training activities. Emphasizing the Faculty's commitment to interdisciplinary and diversified learning, she noted its efforts to promote financial integration within the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area while fostering cross-regional collaboration with the Yangtze River Delta. Associate Dean Khong encouraged students to actively participate in practical and academic activities to enrich their learning experiences and expand their professional networks.

 

 

Associate Professor Ting Yang provided a detailed overview of the Master of Finance and Master of Financial Technology programmes. He explained how the programmes are aligned with Macau's strategic development of modern and specialised finance, highlighting key areas of study such as finance leasing, wealth management, and green finance. His presentation offered the visiting students valuable insights into the Faculty's innovative and forward-looking curriculum design.

 

 

To further support students considering study opportunities in Macau, Mr. Chun Zhou from the Admissions Office delivered a presentation on CityU of Macau's admissions policies, application procedures, scholarship opportunities, and campus life. He outlined the latest admission policies for Mainland Chinese students, explained the advantages of the University's internationally oriented academic framework, and introduced the various scholarship schemes available to eligible applicants.

 

 

During the interactive Q&A session, students actively engaged in discussions on curriculum design, regional financial development trends, and postgraduate application procedures. Faculty representatives responded with professionalism and detailed explanations. Lecturer Jiesi Chen from Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College remarked that the institution's extensive industry engagement initiatives provide students with valuable opportunities to interact with financial enterprises,  gain insights from industry professionals, and develop clearer career plans to enhance their readiness for future careers in the financial sector.

 

 

The visit concluded in a warm and engaging atmosphere. The exchange not only deepened students' understanding of the strengths and distinctive academic offerings of the CityU of Macau Faculty of Finance, but also reinforced a platform for cooperation and exchange among universities and financial institutions across the two regions. Looking ahead, the Faculty of Finance will continue to strengthen collaboration with leading universities and industry partners, providing students with high-quality academic resources and practical learning opportunities while contributing to the sustainable development of the financial industry in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
