To enrich the learning experience of postgraduate students during their research, Faculty of Finance held three postgraduate academic salons at the end of the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year and during the summer break. These sessions attracted strong participation from current graduate students, providing a platform for academic exchange, research presentation, and expert feedback. The salons aim to deepen the scope and rigor of thesis validation while fostering scholarly dialogue among peers.
Sixth Session – May 14, 2026
The sixth salon featured presentations by Song Jiansong and Han Yidan, both second-year Ph.D. students. Song Jiansong presented “Golden Age: The Impact of Early Exposure to Film Prosperity on Fields of Study in Hong Kong,” with commentary from Assistant Professor Wang Fangzhi. Han Yidan presented “From Collateral to Climate: Strategic Climate Risk Disclosure as a Shield Against Pledge-Induced Volatility,” with feedback from Assistant Professor Zhou Shangzhi.
Seventh Session – June 4, 2026
The seventh salon included three presentations: Wu Liming (second-year Ph.D.) presented “Event and Air Quality: Evidence from the Macau Grand Prix,” with comments from Professor Markus Leibrecht. Li Xiaolin (first-year Ph.D.) presented “Industrial Policy and Firms’ R&D Investment: New Evidence from China,” with feedback from Associate Professor Su Fei. Zhou Xijin (third-year Ph.D.) presented “The Impact of Patient Capital Stability on Corporate Greenwashing,” with commentary from Assistant Professor Wang Lu.
Eighth Session – July 2, 2026
The eighth salon featured: Li Zhe (first-year Ph.D.) presenting “Establishment of Pilot Free Trade Zones and Financial Sustainability of Local Governments,” with feedback from Assistant Professor Pang Xiaochuan. Ding Haoyuan (first-year Ph.D.) presenting “The Capital Market Pricing of Host-Country Working-Time Enforcement Risk,” with commentary from Professor Arman Eshraghi.
Academic Impact
Presenters unanimously agreed that faculty feedback provided valuable academic guidance. The salons also fostered peer-to-peer connections, as many students from similar research fields attended. These exchanges not only enriched ongoing thesis work but also laid the groundwork for future collaborations and publications.
