On 16 May, ten students in the PhD in Finance program of the City University of Macau visited the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Professor Zhou Jianxin led the team into the extremely active centre of the securities and financial transactions in the Greater Bay Area.
The first activity lasted from 8:40 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. With the introduction of Director Fan, the team watched the listing ceremony of Sinofibers Technology. The core business of the science and technology enterprise is the research and development of carbon fibres as well as their transformation and applications, which reflects strong business value. The team deeply perceived the State's determination to support the listing of domestic science and technology enterprises in the STAR Market in order to encourage the strengthening of China with science and technology. The sacred bell-ringing ceremony embodied the rigor and solemnity of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in assisting the enterprise with financing, and also indicated that the science and technology enterprise was ready to take off and show strong vitality.
The second activity lasted from 9:35 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The team visited the Financial Expo Centre of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Starting from the agricultural era, then to the maritime era, followed by the industrial era, and finally the era of science and technology, the entire world economic and financial development history was particularly clearly depicted. The team could understand the characteristics of the world economy and regional economy, and appreciate the key and core position of financial securities as an accompaniment in promoting social development.
The third activity lasted from 10:20 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. The "Multi-Level Capital Market and Service System of Shenzhen" internal seminar and Q&A session were held inside the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The seminar was chaired by Ms Li Ting and Ms Yu Cuiyu, and was led by Mr Fan Wenxue. Professor Zhou Jianxin led the students in the PhD in Finance program of CityU to attend the seminar.
In the interactive Q&A session, the team had discussions on widely concerned issues such as the development of characteristic finance, green finance, and a Sino-Portuguese RMB clearing service platform in the Macao SAR. Based on the situation in the Shenzhen market, Mr Fan guided the team on the coordinated development of characteristic finance, and the establishment of a Macao stock exchange leveraging the advantages of the Hong Kong international financial securities market. He further pointed out the current tendency of the State to support the financing of scientific and technological innovation enterprises, and looked forward to the financial trend that in an international situation where China and the USA reach a consensus in trade negotiations, domestic science and technology enterprises are trained in R&D and the conversion of patented technologies into commercial value. According to Mr Fan, the Shenzhen market will be a sustained and determined help. The students benefited a lot from this trip. They gained a further understanding of the stock exchange.
