On the afternoon of 9 October 2019, the students for master’s and doctoral degrees from the Faculty of Finance of City University of Macau, led by Associate Dean Khong Yueng Wah, paid a visit to Huafa Group Zhuhai Centre, a special zone for Macao youths to achieve innovation and start businesses.
The teachers and the students from the Faculty of Finance of CityU gathered around the glass doors of Gongbei Port. Then, they were picked up by a vehicle from Huafa Group and informed the schedule. The first leg of the trip was the Cross Gate on the Wanchai Avenue, where Zhuhai Huafa Zhuhai-Macao Development Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Huafa Group) is located. Deputy General Manager Ho Yu Chiu from the Investment Invitation Business Department gave a brief introduction to the projects; Chief Director Chong Ling Ling shared the details about the cooperation between Zhuhai and Macao; Deputy Director Lee Yeung showed the teachers and the students around the industrial park. Besides, the teachers and the students visited the 28th floor of a Class-A office building to learn about its decoration and layout and see how a business environment was designed. This project reflects the supporting policies by the government and is subsidized by Huafa Group. Any individual with a Macao ID card or any group registered in Macao can apply for a cheap but comfortable office. The renting takes in various forms, and one can choose either a spacious office or an office seat. Macao graduates are encouraged to propose highly potential projects to rent an office or an office seat with a low price. Associate Dean Khong Yueng Wah had a warm exchange with the company and strived to explore more learning and internship resources for the Faculty of Finance, so as to respond to the government policies and advance the financial talent training in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
After that, the teachers and the students visited the 29th floor, where they had a broad view of new landmark buildings like the Hengqin Financial Centre. The investment invitation is heavily weighted towards Macao undergraduates. Any Macao undergraduate with a Macao ID card or any individual or group registering an enterprise in Macao can do office work in the building with an appropriate project proposal. The rent is RMB1 per square meter, and the building offers a complete range of office facilities and Wi-Fi services. The details about the unprecedented preferential are as follows: the preferential package was launched on 8 October 2019, and the whole preferential period of the service base is five years (60 months); the rents of the first three years are waived, and that of the following two years are halved; the package covers all teachers and students from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao who endeavour for innovation and new businesses. Associate Dean Khong Yueng Wah communicated with the person in charge for more information, and the students were active to raise questions to have a comprehensive understanding of the projects in the innovation and entrepreneurship zone for Hong Kong and Macao youths.
Afterwards, the teachers and the students visited the exhibition and conference centre. With a magnificent layout and a large area, the well-designed centre can be used for both international meetings and divided into smaller rooms for diverse purposes.
What fascinated the students the most was the Zhuhai Huafa & CPAA Grand Theatre. With the traditional Chinese theatres and the European ones, it is equipped with dazzling crystal pendants and a nostalgic design of royal palaces. Visitors would feel as if they were in the Europe of the Classical Period when being in the theatre.
The visit was concluded at dusk. Through the happy experience, both the teachers and the students broadened their view on the great bay area.
