On 11 October, the Faculty of Finance of CityU held a lecture on "Chinese Economy under the Unprecedented Changes and the New Opening-up" at Ho Yin Convention Centre. Professor Qiu Xiaohua, Director of Institute of Economic Research of City University of Macau and Chief Strategy Officer of Sunshine Asset Management Corporation Limited, was invited as the keynote speaker.
In the lecture, based on that "we are witnessing major changes unfolding in our world, something unseen in a century" put forward by President Xi Jinping, Professor Qiu elaborated China's economy under the unprecedented changes from aspects such as the industrial revolution, geopolitical layout and China's destiny, the new pattern of China's external relations, and China's position during the transformation and upgrading.
Professor Qiu also proposed "three protections" and "four requirements" from the perspective of internal integration of industries, enterprises, regions and classes. At last, Professor Qiu emphasized on the analysis of the "Belt and Road" initiative, foreign trade and finance, and presented the recent trade and economic indicators with charts.
Teachers and students of the Faculty of Finance of CityU discussed the international influence of RMB, US-China trade friction and other international finance and trade issues under the guidance of Professor Qiu Xiaohua. It is hoped that the students will have a better understanding of the current international financial situation and its impact on China's economic development through this lecture.
