To assist the graduate students of Faulty of Finance to integrate into the Faulty as soon as possible and create a good learning atmosphere, the orientation for the first-year graduates of Faculty of Finance was held in Luso-Chinese Building on October 12, 2020. Dean Adrian Cheung, Associate Dean Khong Yueng Wah and teachers from Faculty of Finance attended this orientation.
First, Dean Adrian Cheung extended the warmest welcome to all the freshmen and reviewed the development history of the Faculty of Finance with the students. He also introduced the future development direction of the Faculty and pointed out that the Faculty of Finance of the City University of Macau is currently the only faculty of finance in Macau. Dean Cheung added that the faculty courses focus on pragmatic innovation, and will continue to improve the academic level and teaching quality in the future, so as to provide the best learning environment and teaching resources for our students. At the same time, he encouraged the freshmen to not only grasp the academic knowledge at campus, but also participate actively in various activities on and off the campus to prepare themselves better, which will help them to show their strengths in the society.
Then, Associate Dean Khong Yueng Wah warmly welcomed the arrival of freshmen and gave a brief introduction to the content of master and doctor courses, as well as various teaching activities, such as academic seminars, financial workshops, featured financial salons, corporate visits, etc., showing that the Faculty of Finance takes experience learning as the core of teaching. In addition, she also introduced the good strategic cooperation relationship between the faculty and various enterprises, such as Hengqin Innovation Finance Research Institute, Industrial and Commercial Bank of Macau, University of Alberta, etc. Moreover, Associate Dean Khong encouraged students to use the winter and summer vacations to visit different companies for internships, so as to grasp the practical application knowledge of finance as soon as possible, which is conducive to entering the industry and fully experiencing the teaching concept of combining enterprise, learning, teaching and research. We hope that students can make good use of the platform provided by the Faculty, strive to seize opportunities, and create more possibilities for future development.
More than 40 masters and 20 doctors of finance attended this orientation for the first-year graduates which will help them get a more comprehensive understanding of the structure and operation of the University and Faculty, and bring the teachers and students closer. We hope that the students of the Faculty of Finance could make the best use of their time on campus and study hard.
