City University of Macau’s Academic Research Quarterly Seminar 2025 was held on the morning of March 21, 2025, at the conference room G2213, Golden Dragon Campus. This seminar is organized by the Research Management Office, with this particular lecture organized by the Faculty of Finance. The seminar featured Professor He Feng, a distinguished professor from the School of Finance at Capital University of Economics and Business, as the keynote speaker. The theme of the presentation was “Writing, Submitting, and Publishing Papers in International Journals.” The event was hosted by Associate Professor Li Weiping, with Professor Adrian (Wai Kong) Cheung, Dean of the Faculty of Finance, presented a souvenir.
Professor He shared practical advice from an editorial standpoint, discussing the structure and writing techniques of journal articles. He provided a detailed explanation of the framework and content of papers, as well as various assessment indicators, elucidating what types of articles are more likely to be accepted for publication.
Addressing the issue of literature review, Professor He pointed out the potential problems associated with AI-generated citations, emphasizing the importance of accurate referencing. In the section concerning journal publication, he drew from his own experiences to explain why articles often struggle to pass peer review, offering a thorough analysis of the review process to equip students with relevant knowledge.
Throughout the seminar, Professor He presented a variety of writing strategies aimed at helping students avoid manuscript rejection.
