The Campus information session for "The 17th ICBC Cup: National FinTech Innovation Competition for College Student - The 6th Macau FinTech Innovation Competition for College Student" was held on September 16, 2026, at the Golden Dragon Campus of the City University of Macau. Distinguished guests attending the information session included Mr. Lechi Deng, Head of the Product Innovation Team of the Fintech Department of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) Limited, and Ms. Lao Weng Tong, the Inclusive Finance Department Institutional Team, as well as Dean Adrian Cheung, Associate Dean Eva Khong and Assistant Professor Lu Liu from Faculty of Finance of City University of Macau.
At the beginning of the event, Dean Adrian Cheung warmly welcomed the campus information session team of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) Limited to the university to give a presentation to the students. He also noted that the faculty achieved quite good results in last year's competition and hoped that students would continue to work hard this year, actively participate in the competition, and strive for even better results.
During the information session, Mr. Deng pointed out that the "ICBC Cup" National College Student Fintech Innovation Competition has been held for seventeen editions since 2010, while the Macau division was established in 2021 and has now entered its sixth edition. The purpose of the "2026 'ICBC Cup' National College Student Fintech Innovation Competition — 6th Macau College Student Fintech Innovation Competition," organized by Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau), is to build a stage for students from Macau's tertiary education institutions to showcase their talents, promote bank-university collaboration in financial product innovation, advance the development of fintech talent in Macau, support the construction of a smart city in Macau, and cultivate high-quality, interdisciplinary fintech talent who are familiar with international, mainland, and local financial market conditions and proficient in technological innovation, thereby injecting talent resources into the development of fintech in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Subsequently, Mr. Dang gave a detailed introduction to the competition and its awards. The information session enabled students to fully understand the submission format and judging criteria for their works. The judging criteria are clearly tied to four major dimensions, including: reasonableness of the demand scenario, feasibility of the technical scenario, contribution of the innovation, and effectiveness of the work presentation. In addition, regarding the award setup, finalists will all receive honorary certificates from the competition; the competition awards are divided into first, second, and third prize winning teams, as well as outstanding award-winning teams and outstanding instructor awards. During the information session, Mr. Dang also provided several work ideas for students' reference. In addition, he also gave detailed descriptions of directions in different fields such as technology finance, green finance, inclusive finance, pension finance, digital finance, financial security services, distinctive financial services, wealth management services, services for youth groups, and open innovation services for students' reference.
Finally, Associate Dean Eva Khong expressed gratitude to Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) for actively building a platform for City University of Macau students to showcase their talents, and encouraged students to seize the opportunity this year, form teams, actively participate and learn, improve their practical financial abilities, and cultivate a spirit of teamwork.
