Professor WANG Zhongming is a senior professor of  Social Sciences, Global Entrepreneurship Research Centre and the president of the Silk-Road Entrepreneurship Education Network. His research fields are of broad spectrum, including entrepreneurial management, organizational behavior and leadership, and industrial psychology. The theme of this lecture is "Crisis Leadership and Capacity Building", focusing on three main points: 1. "Crisis and Leadership Behavior", 2. " Crisis Management and Models”, 3. "Crisis Leadership and Strategies”

“Characteristics of Crisis and Leadership Behavior”, the first part of this lecture, started off with the experience of Chinese companies in fighting the epidemic, pointing out the difficulties and responses that Chinese companies face under the epidemic, as well as discussing the characteristics and evolution of the crisis, crisis management to crisis leadership and other issues. In the second part, Professor Wang focused on the "stage model of crisis management", covering the events and processes of crisis management, and capacity building strategies under crisis. At the same time, he also pointed out the pre-crisis, middle and post-crisis stages of crisis management as a process strategy, discussing the management execution ability and resilience in the management stage. The third part introduced the "Crisis Leadership Development Strategy" and put forward an important concept of crisis leadership: resilience. Professor Wang analyzed the critical research and application progress of resilience from different disciplines, and expanded to the fields of organization management and innovation and entrepreneurship. Besides, he also used the classic study of psychological resilience-1971 "Longitudinal Study of Children in Kauai" as an example, showing that children under adverse circumstances such as family poverty and parents with illnesses exhibit strong resilience behaviors during adolescence, and their academic performance and career are more successful than that of children in ordinary families, revealing the importance of these three elements of crisis leadership: resilience, coordination, and action.

In this lecture, Professor Wang shared the research experience of crisis management, the relationship between new theories, new viewpoints and psychology, as well as various case studies, which benefited students a lot. Towards the end of the lecture, the audience enthusiastically sought to ask Professor Wang questions, and hoped that after the epidemic, Professor Wang would be invited to visit the City University of Macau to give another lecture to the students.
