The City University of Macau (CityU Macau) and Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) organised a seminar to discuss the development of the modern financial industry and potential career opportunities today (10) at the Cultural Center, Taipa campus.
The seminar invited industrial elites to talk about development trends and supporting measures to nurture financial professionals. The event also unveiled potential offers in the banking and insurance industries, encouraging students to obtain professional qualifications and prepare for a bright future.
Prof Jun Liu, Rector of CityU Macau, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the support from AMCM and the financial sector in his speech. He pointed out that financial specialists cement a solid foundation for the future growth of the modern financial industry and play a vital role in driving social and economic development.
“The Faculty of Finance of CityU Macau has devoted to cultivating high-end financial talents since its establishment, promoting the development of financial industry in Macao, and helping the government facilitate the city to become a financial services platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries and a hub to provide distinctive financial services.” Rector Liu said. He hoped that the seminar could allow students to learn more about the industrial development of Macao's financial sector and encourage them to step into the field, thus enriching the human resources for future progress.
Dr. Chan Sau San, Chairman of the AMCM, spoke highly about the endeavor of CityU Macau in nurturing financial professionals. He pointed out that the SAR Government is committed to building the financial sector as another pillar industry to support the moderately diversified development of Macao's economy. Dr. Chan said AMCM aims to equip professionals with advanced international standards and qualifications. To lay a solid foundation for future growth, AMCM has gathered resources from education institutions, training bases, international associations, and the financial sector to launch various summer internship and vocational training programs to nurture professionals and serve society.
The seminar also invited industrial elites to share their practical experience at work and their pathway to obtain professional licenses. They are from the Bank of China Macau Branch, Banco Nacional Ultramarino Macau, AIA International Limited, and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) Limited.
The seminar also conducted a session to answer questions from students, offering a crystal picture of the current development of the modern financial industry. The session encouraged students to maximise their strengths in studies and apply their expertise to their professions.
